Base ohakea

FUELS PRECinct

Manawatu

The Fuels Precinct Facility, a part of NZDF’s Ohakea Infrastructure Programme (OIP), will address urgent and critical issues with the bases existing fuels facilities including staff wellbeing, capacity, compliance and location. The new fit-for-purpose integrated complex will ensure the base continues to provide aviation fuel services that are safe, reliable, and environmentally responsible.

Kernow Construction have partnered with Dialog Fitzroy to deliver this sizeable project, with each entity having clearly defined outputs. Dialog Fitzroy are responsible for the design, supply and installation of the 1.6ML capacity fuel tanks and associated controls, while Kernow are contracted to construct seven large scale structures. These include an Admin Building (offices, classrooms & storage), Pump Bay, Switch Room, Workshop (for refuelling equipment and vehicles), Tanker Park (providing covered parking for storage and maintenance of aviation refueller tankers), Fuel Loading/Unloading Gantry, and Tanker Wash.

This is the second project Kernow is completing for NZDF DEI at RNZAF Base Ohakea which brings valuable advantages in terms of established relationships and lessons learned.

One of the benefits from our previous experience is that we are familiar with and can meet the rigorous requirements and expectations outlined in the Construction Health, Environment & Safety Specification (CHESS), a part of DEI’s health and safety management system.
